Dancer. Singer. Actor. Choreographer
Renell Taylor, a native of New Orleans, is now an actor and aspiring choreographer based in New York City. He is currently part of the Original Broadway cast of A Wonderful World, the Louis Armstrong Musical, where he understudies Lincoln Perry and plays Banjo Ben, a role he created.
Since graduating from Elon University in 2023, where Renell received a BFA in Music Theatre and a BA in Arts Administration, Renell has worked non-stop at all of his dream theatres. Within the almost two years he has been out of school, he has originated a role on Broadway after also doing the Pre-Broadway tryout, performed at the New York City Center(Jelly’s Last Jam), the Kennedy Center(Bye Bye Birdie), Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera(Anything Goes) and more. Renell has worked with several Tony Award winners and other big stars, including Billy Porter, James Monroe Iglehart, Christian Borle, Joaquina Kalukango, Leslie Uggams, Richard Kind, etc.
Renell is enjoying his time performing but his ultimate goal is to teach and choreograph. He spent most of his college years choreographing on his peers and served as the assistant choreographer on multiple school productions. He then served as an assistant choreographer under his mentor Mara Newberry Greer at The Lexington Theatre Company.
Renell is super excited to break into the industry and hopes you will join him on the ride!
